A new Concept in Music Production

BIOGRAPHY



Miguel Bonilla was born and raised in Cali, Colombia.  He grew up listening to salsa, Kumbia, and Latin American Folk music.  At the age of 10 he began his music studies and shortly after started playing the piano in public for promotional shows.  This embarked Miguel in a new adventure and devotion towards music.  At the age of 16 he took a break from music and traveled to New York City where he attended high school and learned english.  At the age of 19 he saw Jose Manual Jr. and Orchestra performing at a nightclub.  This set off a spark and his love for music grew stronger. He approached famous piano player Gilberto Colon Jr. and asked to receive piano lessons once again. At this point he was so into his music that six months later he got his first break with a major Latin band. He joined the Tito Nieves Orchestra in 1990. He traveled extensively and got a taste of what being on the road as a performer was all about. Shortly after he started playing with artists such as; Johnny Rivera, Jose Alberto " El Canario ", Ray Sepulveda, The New York Band, and many others.  The experience he gained performing with all these different artists helped him land a gig with Marc Anthony's Band.  Miguel was Marc Anthony’s piano player for approximately 2 Years.  Afterwards he received the opportunity to work with La India.  This was a pivotal moment in his life.  He was traveling throughout the world and performing at the most famous world arenas.  He then started on the Production side of the music business and began arranging music for local bands. This is when he met famous Salsa music producer Sergio George and was arranging music for artists such as Victor Manuel, and La India. This triggered his production career and he started doing productions for artists such as Safire, D'mingo, New Street, Elvis Crespo, and Eddie Santiago.  His first major break on the radio was when he produced George Lamond's single " Que Te Vas ".  He continued producing music and worked with Huey Dunbar’s solo Album “Music For My Peoples".  Miguel worked together with Producers such as Mike and Lenny Santos from "Aventura " Jimmy Grecco, Ray Contreras, and Magic Juan. Currently he is the Musical director for Don Omar's Band and is working on a couple of tracks for him and developing new artists at his studio.  In 2010 Miguel Bonilla launched his independent production company named DeeGee Works.  DeeGee Works is dedicated to promoting the New York City latin music scene.  DeeGee Works is helping new artists such as Papito, Sostre, OMG, LuLu, and others start a career in the music industry.  Miguel’s vision for his sound is a fusion of cultures, sounds and music genres.  This style arranges from Salsa, Hip Hop, Kumbia, Rock, and Pop.  His production company is a huge success on the internet.
